The MENI-CAL system makes use of the Cryolipolysis technology, which was developed for trimming down your body measurements in problem areas and considered one of the safest in the world. The technology is based on the destruction of fat cells via noninvasive and pain-free freezing of fat tissue (adipocytes) underneath the skin without any meaningful post-treatment side effects. This technology utilizes the body’s natural mechanism of fat cells disintegration and elimination. Clinical studies show that fat tissue, which is built from adipocytes, is sensitive to cold temperatures. Exact application of low temperatures (-10/-8 degrees Celsius) triggers apoptosis (miniscule biological inflammatory process) of fat cells (adipocytes), or in other words, a destruction of fat cells followed by a miniscule and almost unnoticed inflammatory response as a result. This response triggers a slow digestion process of the “dead” cells by the immune system and elimination of those fat cells via the lymphatic system. In addition, it has been clinically established that there is no real effect on the liver, which is responsible for eliminating fat cells from the body.
The low temperatures (-10/-8 degrees Celsius) cause partial damage to the adipocytes (fat tissue) in the treated area (20%-35% of cells are destroyed already after the first treatment and additional 15% at the end of the second treatment). The adipocytes that have undergone a crystallization process trigger a macrophage (white blood cells – phagocytes – which are part of the body’s immune system) activity about 3 days post-treatment and up to 6 weeks. After 14-30 days one can see how the macrophage and phagocyte cells wrap and digest the remaining parts of the fat cells as part of the body’s natural response. The inflammatory process that takes place is unnoticed and does not affect daily life.
